After reading Danny Coope's blog entry I couldn't wait see his Street of Blue Plaques. Taking information from the 19th century censuses, Danny has created a series of blue plaques celebrating some ordinary former residents of Grosvenor Park Road. Walking down the road I was amazed at how many jobs there are, from a pencil works foreman, to fur cutters and the builder of Britain's first motor car. The Waltham Forest logo at the bottom of the plaques is a lovely touch.
The house where the builder of Britain's first motor car lived (1912-1926) and home of a master baker, born in 1825, lived and worked here for over 40 years. |
