When it comes to Art Trail events that constitute whole environments rather than exhibitions only, another fantastic trail experience is always Ruby Stables (Venue 52). It is impossible to describe really. You just have to go there, pick your way along the narrow path through the potted plants and visual surprises and then pick your way back though the narrow shop with its mass of pictures, furniture, curios, accidental installations and multiple artist, Art Trail features. The paintings merge into the contents of the shop, the old is mixed up with the new, the bizarre with the ordinary, the inside with the outside. It's like a kind of surreal trip through time... or space ... or something...
